EAGLE MOUNTAIN, UT, March 28, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Six years after his passing, Eagle Mountain community members continue to reflect on what co-founder John Walden accomplished in his career. A city now ranking in the top 20 in population in Utah also serves as a blueprint for growing a community from scratch.

Incorporated in 1996, the city in Utah County has doubled in size over the last decade. Walden and his business partners noticed this open land while vacationing in Park City. Undeveloped and undervalued, initial expectations revolved around water access. Walden envisioned doing more to develop a self-sufficient city.

The late Walden experienced growing pains and challenges along the way. His focus was on growth, but he also had to balance the current community’s thoughts and feelings. Some new businesses and developments received nearly unanimous approval from the public, while decisions like welcoming the state’s prison to the area frustrated residents.

As time passes and the city grows, much of what Walden originally predicted is coming true. The city has the infrastructure, commercial development, and businesses to be more than a bedroom city to more significant parts of the state. Community members continue to buy into what Eagle Mountain provides, and it’s over 50,000 residents and growing.

Before his death, John Walden handed the keys to his daughter Tiffany to run the family business. She’s a third-generation homebuilder in Eagle Mountain, and part of her focus has been on making her father’s vision for Utah’s future and reality. Serving as an active community member with her business interests, she’s pushed for development on several fronts.

A notable business development made possible by people like Walden promoting the community’s positive attributes is the Facebook Data Center. When considering several locations, Eagle Mountain won out. It provided construction jobs at first and now employs over 200 in Eagle Mountain.

Eagle Mountain’s growth solidifies John Walden as a central figure in growing Utah outside the established major cities. Starting from nothing in the mid-1990s to what it looks like today required a combination of vision, hard work, and luck. The Walden family remains involved with the city as it nears its 30th anniversary.
